Kale chips are a super healthy snack and easy to make. This recipe shows how to make these tasty chips in the oven and in the air fryer.

    Kale Chips

A super easy to make and tasty snack are Kale chips. Kale chips are a healthy option than regular potato chips as it includes a powerhouse of nutrients, are full of vitamins, antioxidants and high in iron. They are perfect to snack on for any part of the day and also great to make if you have any leftover kale in your fridge so it doesn't go to waste.

    Ingredients to Make Kale Chips

    • Kale, you will only require the leaves so tear them off the stems
    • Garlic Powder to provide a subtle garlic taste which I absolutely love
    • Olive Oil I use extra virgin olive oil for its flavour, you don't need to add too much as a little goes along way.
    • Salt, I like to use pink Himalayan sea salt

You can add any seasoning you like, I love the combination of salt and garlic powder, however other spices that taste great are paprika, cumin, chilli powder, oregano and even nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavour. The options are endless 🙂

    Important Tips

    • The most crucial step in making kale chips is to massage and rub the olive oil to all the leaves. You will notice you don’t need to add to much oil to coat them all, however ensuring they are all coated well by your fingers makes them crispy and tasty rather than burning.
    • Place Kale leaves into a salad spinner or in between kitchen towels to ensure they are completely dry. This will ensure they turn out crispy.

    Ingredients

    • 150 g kale
    • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ⅓ teaspoon salt

    Instructions

    • With fingers, tear off kale leaves into bite size pieces and wash well.
    • Place leaves into a salad spinner or in between kitchen towels to ensure they are completely dry. This will ensure they turn out crispy.
    • Place into a bowl and add olive oil and seasoning. You can add any seasoning you like, I love the combination of salt and garlic powder.
    • With your fingers, massage the oil and seasoning to the kale. This helps soften the kale.

    Oven

    • Place on a baking tray with baking paper and lay kale out, ensuring kale leaves aren't overlapping.  Bake for about 7-8 minutes in the oven at 180°C/350°F

    Air Fryer

    • Add kale to the air fryer and cook for 2 minutes at 180°C/350°F.  Take them out, shake and check if they have turned crispy. If not, place in for another 30 seconds and check again.  They can burn very quickly so keep an eye on them
