This Custard Yogurt Toast is the new food trend you need to try!
It's an easy breakfast that takes less than 10 minutes to make and will be a new favorite!
It tastes like you’re having a dessert for breakfast, but healthy too 🙂

This Custard Yogurt Toast has been trending on Tiktok for months. I was a little skeptical to try it at first as I was worried it may taste “eggy”, but I can assure you it doesn't! I was actually surprised how much it tasted like custard 🙂
The custard is simply made with 3 ingredients: Greek yogurt, egg and maple syrup.
It's then added to bread, topped with your favorite toppings then baked in the air fryer or oven.
If you don't have an air fryer, don't stress! I've also tested the oven method noted below which worked great too!
Table of Contents
Ingredients to make Custard Yogurt Toast
- Sliced bread, you can use any bread you like from white bread, sourdough, whole grain and even brioche. The softer the bread the better
- Egg is used to make the custard
- Greek yogurt is then mixed into the egg to make the yogurt custard. I’ve used plain non-fat Greek yogurt. You can also use flavoured yogurt if you prefer too!
- Maple syrup or honey is added to the custard for sweetness. I’ve used 2 teaspoons, but if you like it extra sweet you can of course add more
Optional to add to the custard is vanilla extract, cinnamon or nutmeg. You can also dust powdered sugar for garnish to fancy up your Custard Toast!
Toppings to add on Custard Toast
The toppings are endless and you can add your favorites or a mix of them too!
Here are some ideas:
- Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Blackberries
- Dark chocolate
- White chocolate
- Nectarines
- Peaches
- Apricots
How to make Custard Yogurt Toast
- Preheat air fryer. Set to 180°C/350°F
- Make custard mixture. In a small bowl, add an egg, yogurt and maple syrup. Whisk together to form a liquid custard
- Prepare the bread. Using your fingers or the back of a spoon or fork, press into the centre of the bread to indent and create a well without cutting through. Spoon in the custard mixture into the indented well and add your toppings on top
- Time to cook. Cook in the air fryer for 4-5 minutes
How to make Yogurt Toast in the Oven
If you don't have an air fryer, don't stress as you can make it in the oven too!
Simply preheat your oven to 180°C/350°F. Then place bread on an oven tray with baking paper and put in the oven for 8-12 minutes (depending on your oven strength)
Tips on making the Yogurt Custard Toast
- The softer the bread the better as it will be easier to indent a well into the centre, but you can really use any bread you like
- The custard mixture can make between 2 - 3 slices of bread. It will really depend on the size and thickness of your bread. I’ve used 2 quite thick bread slices, and still had some custard mixture leftover
- Make sure to whisk the custard mixture well so that it resembles a runny smooth custard texture. You don’t want any egg clumps
- Keep an eye on the cooking time, as ovens and air fryers have different strengths.
The custard should be set and starting to caramelise on the edges when ready

I made this with my kids. We made 6 slices . Baked at 400 for 20 min and custard wasn’t quite set yet. So added 5 min time until set . About 30 min altogether. I think play with temp and time depending on oven and quantity. Yum
Ayeh says
So happy you loved them dear! Yes all ovens are a little different with timing so I'm glad it worked out after increasing the time dear yay xxxx

Colleen Maciag says
I think I found my new obsession, this was so delicious and so easy to make. I made it with raspberries and my kitchen smelled so delicious while I was making it. It's just sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth without being overly indulgent. I will definitely be making this again. My custard was a little runny when I cut into it so I think I just poured too much into it so it wasn't fully set but it was still great.
Ayeh says
Yay love this Colleen! We've been hooked to it too 🙂 If its still too runny, it might need a little longer cooking time. But keep an eye on it so it doesnt set too much xxxx
Dygramly says

So easy right! So happy you thought so too xx
Shreya Trivedi says
I am never a fan of a bread recipes soaked in egg which remains undercooked and tastes a bit eggy. I had a similar hunch for this one as well. But to my surprise, this recipe turned out to be an absolute delight! I used my favorite, blueberries and raspberries with a few drops of vanilla essence. That toast was DELICIOUS and I'm definitely gonna make it again because it was so super easy and quick!
I was so much engrossed in enjoying the taste that it was gone before I could even click a picture of it.
Ayeh says
Hehe love this this Shreya! I feel the same and was skeptical of the "eggy" taste but you cant taste it at all! so glad you loved it xx
Sharon says
Size of egg and amount of yogurt not found in the instructions, also why is salt omitted?
Ayeh says
Salt isnt required dear. The full recipe is at the bottom in the recipe card
Mel says
If I’m making it for one person can I refrigerate the leftovers or will it be soggy next day?
Ayeh says
It will be best fresh, but you can refrigerate the custard and use it the next day on fresh bread xx

This was so easy and delicious! I used Dave’s Killer bread and Oikos Triple Zero yogurt. The heavier bread made this so filling! I def have a new regular for breakfast or when I’m craving something sweet.
