    Sriracha Aioli

    JUMP TO RECIPE

I'm going to show you how easy it is to whip up this spicy Sriracha Aioli. Perfect to serve with burgers, BBQs and fries, it's made in minutes and will take any dish to another level!

Sriracha aioli in a bowl with halloumi fries on the side

This Sriracha Aioli sauce has become a staple in my home. It's creamy and spicy with a little garlic tang, and tastes so good with everything. I love me a spicy sauce, but sometimes store bought sauces are too spicy for me, and can include a bunch of additives and preservatives. By making this homemade sriracha aioli, you can customize the spice level and make it just as you like, plus it tastes so much better too!

Think of it as a spicy mayo...but better! The addition of the garlic and lemon juice adds tang and freshness that works so well with the spicy creaminess.

Personally I love adding it to burgers, wraps, fries and on the side of vegan fried chicken or roasted potatoes. It also works great with grilled meats or seafood, vegetarian dishes such as my crispy breaded tofu or as a dipping sauce to halloumi fries. The options are endless really, there are no rules!

    What is Sriracha?

Sriracha is a chili sauce which originated in Thailand, where its commonly used for a dipping sauce for seafood and other dishes. It's made with red chili peppers, garlic, distilled vinegar, sugar, and salt.

It tastes both spicy, tangy with a hint of sweetness and its full of flavor without being overpowering. Compared to other hot sauces, sriracha is on the milder side in terms of heat but it still packs a punch.  Perfect to use as a spicy kick for this sriracha aioli!

Why you'll love this Sriracha Aioli

    • Crazy Easy: Made with 4 simple ingredients, it takes minutes to make!
    • Flavor Bomb: The sriracha adds a delicious spice with the creamy aioli that tastes so good
    • Customizable: Make it as mild or as fiery as you like and you can even customize the garlic amount too
    • Versatile: Use it as a dipping sauce with chips, fries and even cheese like my halloumi fries. You can also spread on a burger or serve on the side of veggies and meats. Options are endless!

    Ingredients and Substitutions

    • Mayonnaise is the base of our creamy aioli. I prefer using whole egg mayo which is made with whole eggs for a richer flavor. You can also use a light mayo or vegan mayo
    • Sriracha sauce is our star ingredient. This chili sauce brings the heat with a light tang that's also not too overpowering. You can also experiment with different hot sauces
    • Lemon juice adds a touch of freshness and acidity to balance the flavors. You can substitute with lime juice for a different citrusy kick
    • Garlic clove, use fresh garlic as its best. I really recommend using a microplane grater to ensure its evenly spread without any chunks of garlic. You can substitute with garlic powder with a pinch if needed

    How to make Sriracha Aioli

This sriracha aioli takes minutes to whip up and really elevates any dish. Follow my simple steps below.

Aioli ingredients in a bowl before being mixed

Add mayo, lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of sriracha to a small bowl. Then grate in a garlic clove using a microplane grater

    Aioli mixed with a whisk

Whisk to combine and taste for spice level. Add a 2nd tablespoon of sriracha if you really like it spicy

What to serve with Sriracha Aioli

You can really pair this sriracha aioli recipe with any dish. Here are some of my favorites:

    • Cauliflower steaks
    • Halloumi fries
    • Salmon tacos
    • Vegan chicken burger or halloumi burger
    • Roasted potatoes
    • Vegan fried chicken
    • Tofu Katsu
    • Shrimp Tempura
    • Sandwiches such as chickpea tuna
    • Wraps such as a falafel wrap
    • Salmon bowl
    • French fries
Halloumi burger with a smoky red pepper sauce and veggies

    Tips and Tricks

    1. I recommend using a microplane grater to finely grate the garlic for even distribution of flavor. You don't want big garlic chunks
    2. You can also use an immersion blender if you prefer, but it's not required
    3. Start with 1 tablespoon of the sriracha and taste as you go. You can always add the 2nd spoon, but you can't take it away
    4. If it's too spicy or you’ve added too much sriracha, try adding a drizzle of honey or agave. The sweetness will balance out the spice

    Storage Instructions

    • Store leftover sriracha aioli in an airtight container or sealed mason jar in the fridge for up to a week. Give it a quick stir before serving
