This Baked Dijon Salmon is a delicious healthy dinner for the family, ready in less than 20 minutes. The simple dijon sauce is loaded with flavor with only 5 ingredients, everyone will love it!

This Baked Dijon Salmon has quickly become one of my new favorite ways to enjoy salmon! As you guys know, I eat a predominantly vegetarian diet with the occasional seafood from time to time. Since being pregnant and having Luca, I have been trying to increase my fish intake and salmon will always be my go-to. I usually just enjoy it simply with olive oil and lemon juice or a light teriyaki style with these salmon bites but the other night I needed something different….
I added a light smear of dijon mustard and it tasted so good! The next time, I used it to make a simple marinade with some basic ingredients including olive oil, garlic, dill, lemon juice and of course the dijon mustard. It came out even better with a light lemony tang. The key however is using the broiler method which gives the dijon glaze on top a caramelization whilst still keeping it perfectly tender and flaky.
Pair it with rice, salad, veggies or your favorite sides, everyone will love it including kids as the dijon flavor is light and not overpowering. It will quickly become one of your staple weeknight dinners or one to surprise your guests even though its crazy easy to make.

Ingredients and Substitutions
- Salmon fillets are the star of this recipe. I've used Tasmanian salmon but you can use Atlantic salmon or other salmon varieties
- Dijon mustard provides the signature tangy flavor in the dijon sauce. Swap for whole grain mustard for a slightly different texture
- Olive oil helps create a smooth glaze while keeping the salmon moist. Melted butter can be used as a substitute
- Garlic adds depth to the marinade. Use fresh garlic cloves, grated with a microplane grater for the best flavor, but garlic powder works if needed
- Dried dill and salmon are a classic match and work well together. You could swap with fresh dill or parsley
- Fresh lemon juice brightens the sauce. I would also serve with a lemon wedge for extra freshness
- Asparagus (optional), I've used a bunch and placed alongside the salmon, however you can use broccolini or other vegetables you have on hand
How to make Baked Dijon Salmon
This Baked Dijon Salmon is the perfect dinner for the family all done in the one tray with minimal prep and easy clean up. Follow my simple steps below (note quantities are listed in the recipe card below)

Step 1: Add dijon sauce ingredients to a bowl, being olive oil, garlic, dijon mustard, dried dil and lemon juice and mix

Step 2: Place salmon fillets on an oven tray lined with parchement paper and brush each piece with the dijon sauce. Leave to marinade at room temperature for 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 480°F (250°C) and set it to broil

Step 3: Add asparagus alongside the salmon and place the tray on the middle oven rack. Bake for 10-12 minutes or 9 minutes if you prefer your salmon pink in the center

Step 4: Carefully remove the salmon from the oven. Serve immediately with your favorite sides like rice, roasted potatoes or vegetables and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice
Tips and Tricks
- Try to use salmon fillets approximately the same size and weight so they cook evenly
- Prepare salmon by pat drying them with a paper towel before adding the dijon sauce to help the glaze stick better
- Let the salmon sit with the marinade at room temperature for about 15 minutes before baking for the best flavor
- Line your sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil for an easy clean up
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover dijon salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
- Reheat gently in the oven until warmed through to maintain the best flavor. You can also use an air fryer, microwave or enjoy it cold flaked into a salad
- Freeze cooled salmon portions in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Thaw before reheating

Serving Suggestions
When I make this recipe, I always serve it with either basmati rice or brown rice for a complete meal. It also pairs well with roasted potatoes, steamed broccoli or roasted vegetables. For a lighter option, serve alongside a fresh quinoa salad or Italian chopped salad.
FAQs
The fish should flake easily when tested with a fork. Make sure the thickest part of the fillet is fully cooked in the center if you prefer it fully cooked. Or you can also enjoy it medium rare with a slight pink
Yes. Thaw the salmon completely and pat it dry with a paper towel before preparing the recipe
Yes of course! The air fryer is simply a mini oven, just reduce the cooking time slightly as I find the air fryer cooks in a shorter time
