This Persian Whipped Feta Butter Board is a little twist on the viral Butter Board! It’s healthy and creamy, and so so addictive! Trust me when I say, with every dip you'll keep going back for more!
I'm sure by now you would have seen butter board recipes trending all over Tiktok and social media! It's one of the latest food trends and has gained a nickname as the new Charcuterie board! I love the concept of it, but I must admit I'm not a fan of butter at all. If you've followed me for a while you’ll see I never use it in any of my recipes.
I’ve put a Persian spin on it and have used creamy whipped feta instead of softened butter. It's light and fresh and much healthier too. Great to serve to guests as an appetizer for dinner parties or for casual snacking.
Some other feta recipes I've posted you must check out are Crispy Feta Fried Eggs and of course the viral Baked Feta Pasta.
This recipe is inspired by “Noon Panir sabzi” which translates to bread, cheese, and herbs, and is the base of a traditional Persian Breakfast.

The flavor combination of salty feta cheese with fresh mint and bread is so delicious and one I've eaten since childhood. Whilst it's the base of a Persian breakfast, Persians also enjoy it as a snack at any time of the day. Here I've also added the very traditional additions and texture of walnuts, radishes, and veggies. Trust me when I say, with every dip you'll keep going back for more!

Ingredients & Substitutions
- Feta cheese is the base for the easy whipped feta dip. Use good quality feta, usually made from sheep's milk. It can be Greek feta, Persian feta or even Balgarian feta too. I prefer to buy blocks of feta rather than already crumbled feta. There's also sufficient salt in the feta to not add any additional flaky salt
- Greek yogurt is blended with feta cheese to make the creamy feta dip. It's a much healthier alternative than using cream cheese which is often used
- Extra virgin olive oil is added both in the whipped feta dip along with a drizzle on the board at the end
- Cucumber, I love using Persian cucumbers or Lebanese cucumbers as I find them more flavourful and crisp. However, a regular cucumber will work too
- Tomato, use a ripe tomato or cherry tomatoes that are on the firmer side as you don't want them too soft and get smooshed
- Walnuts are crumbled and sprinkled on top. Pine nuts, pistachios, or almonds will be great too
- Radish brings lovely color and a peppery tang! It's also very typical to serve in Persian breakfast and noon panir sabzi. Slice them nice and thin
- Mint leaves are also very traditional and bring a yummy freshness. Fresh herbs are always best. You can also use parsley too
- For a kick, you can also add some red pepper flakes or chili flakes too and grated garlic to the dip. Adding a drizzle of honey can also bring some sweetness
- Bread for serving. I love using fresh barbari bread but you can also use pita or focaccia
How to make Persian Whipped Feta Butter Board
When talking about sharing a dish amongst friends or family, it can't get any easier and more delicious than this. This recipe will take 10 minutes to make in these simple steps below.
- To start, prepare ingredients by cutting cucumber and tomato into small cubes and slice some radish into thin slices. My tip is to remove the excess water from the tomatoes by placing on a paper towel
- To make the whipped feta, crumble a block of feta cheese into smaller pieces and place in a food processor or blender. Add Greek yogurt, olive oil and blend until smooth
- Check the consistency, it should be thick and creamy. If its too clumpy, add another tablespoon of yogurt and another teaspoon of olive oil and blend again
- Now for the fun part, grab a board and spoon the feta dip. I like to go one spoon at a time and use the back of the spoon to make a swirl design. You can really be creative here!
- Time for the toppings, I like to start by sprinkling the cucumbers and tomatoes. Followed by the sliced raddish. Then with my hands, crumble over some walnuts, tear some fresh mint leaves and sprinkle them on top
- To serve, give a good drizzle of olive oil on top, grab some fresh bread or crackers and go for a dip!
Tips & Tricks
- When making the whipped feta recipe, start by adding 3 tablespoons of greek yogurt and 2 teaspoons of olive oil. If it's too thick or still has crumbles then add the remaining yogurt and olive oil. It will depend on your brand and type of feta cheese
- Ensure you use a clean and separate wooden chopping board that's not used to cut any meats which can cause bacteria. You can also serve the dip on a platter or bowl
- Cut the vegetables into small cubes which is easier for dipping. Similar to when you make a Shirazi Salad
- Pat the tomato cubes dry with a paper towel to remove the excess water as you don't want the dip to become watery
- If you have any leftovers (which you probably won't!) you can store in the fridge for 3 days

Just came on your site due to crispy rice cakes, can't wait to make ! Just a thought for this board which I will be making this weekend for a party. I discovered dukka a few years ago and always have some on hand. I think it would be a great addition instead of whole nuts. Your thoughts ?

Sounds great! I love dukka too and think it would be a great addition 🙂
