Tips & Tricks
- Use a non-stick pot. May be obvious but this might be the most important step, as nobody wants rice stuck to the pot
- Wash rice before cooking to remove excess starch. The water should run clear. Of course this will depend on the rice recipe your making, for example if using sushi rice or making a risotto this won’t be required
- Have a taste. Depending on your cooking method (steaming, baking or stovetop), tasting in those final moments will allow you to adjust the cook time until its just right
FAQs
I've found that matching the rice with the cuisine you're cooking takes alot of the guess work out of which type of grain and texture works best. As a guide, I would typically pair basmati with Middle Eastern and Indian recipes, arborio with risottos, sushi rice with Japanese and jasmine with Asian and Thai recipes
Yes its great for easy meal prep. Freeze in air tight containers for 1 month for the best flavor. Reheat in the microwave or I prefer the stove top with a splash of water and covered to prevent it from drying out or let it thaw overnight if you have the time
