This cheesy Tuna Melt is crazy delicious and a classic for a reason. Here I've made a lighter tuna salad that's creamy and tangy, sandwiched with tomato and cheese for the ultimate comfort food
*Optional sriracha sauce - as spicy as you like or omit if preferred
Pinch of salt and black pepper
Tuna Melt Sandwich
4slicessandwich bread
2slicescheese of choice - I like Swiss or cheddar cheese
4tomato slices
Instructions
Finely dice the pickle, celery and red onion. *Optional, soak the onion in a bowl of water while prepping the rest to remove the harsh onion flavor
Drain the tuna and add to a medium bowl
Add the chopped ingredients along with the mayonnaise, yogurt, dijon mustard and squeeze in the lemon juice. Add a pinch of salt and pepper along with the sriracha if using. Stir to combine*Note you can use 100% Greek yogurt or mayo if preferred
Add the cheese to the bottom bread slices, top with the tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Spoon on the tuna salad mixture and place over the top slice of bread
Place the sandwich in a pre-heated sandwich or panini press and close until the bread is toasted and the cheese is all meltyYou can also place the sandwich on a skillet over medium heat with a light drizzle of olive oil or butter and gently flip with a spatula when the bread is toasted or toast in your air fryer
Slice in half and enjoy your delicious cheesy Tuna Melt!!!
